My breadbox makeover to phone charger and kitchen clutter catch all

Breadbox to Cell Phone Charging Station Fancy Frugal Life

Since it’s Earth Day and one of my favorite hobbies is to makeover, repurpose, or reuse inexpensive second hand or thrift store items, here is a great example I am LOVING in my kitchen!
Breadbox Makeover Fancy Frugal Life

If you’ve been following along via Instagram last month, I posted this pic my vintage $6 breadbox find from Goodwill.
breadbox beforeIt’s actually pretty large and my hubby was like, “What are you gonna do with that?” LOL I knew exactly what I wanted to use it for! A spot to hide the kitchen counter clutter! You know the spot where you drop wallets, phone chargers, watches, change, keys, ect? That stuff!
breadbox duringAll it needed was some paint and to be cleaned up. I love the bread lettering on the roll top, and wanted to keep that part the same.
Breadbox to phone chargerWe drilled a small hole in the back for phone chargers and added this phone organizer we already were using and a spot for pencils, and change. I also added some hooks for car keys.

My Backyard Tour (Getting Ready for Summer)

My Backyard Tour Fancy Frugal Life

Last weekend we filled all our patio pots and planted a few flowers and palm trees in our backyard. We moved in last summer and this is pretty much where we live for three months straight trying to keep cool in Phoenix during the summer. Our backyard is what sold the house for us. Remember- We bought our home sight unseen from California and this was the main reason! It really is a fun place to spend family time and entertain. 🙂

Now, I’m not saying I’m ready for our impending scorching hot summer to be here yet, but I’m excited to get the patio pool party ready.

We also did lots of general trimming and yard work. I cleaned and waxed our patio furniture and that was a whole project by itself.

How to Fix Faded Patio Furniture Hip2Save

You can read how to wax aluminum furniture with automobile wax in a post I did for Hip2Save here. It’s actually easy to do and works great, but requires some elbow grease. This set is nine years old and still going strong.

We also recently purchased two new wicker style lounge chairs from Costco and love them! They were pretty affordable, but still an investment, compared to most outdoor furniture options these days. 🙂
new lounge chairsI usually have success with succulents in pots due to the fact they don’t need as much water!

We decided to plant a couple Tropicana lilies and a small palm tree in a small grouping by the pool. Later in the week, they eventually both bloomed and are so pretty. We used to have these in Fresno, CA when we lived there and hoping they make it through the summer! 🙂
