I’m so excited to share this little side table makeover with you today! This past weekend we went junking at a huge warehouse in downtown Fresno Called Yoshi’s looking for a unique side table or magazine rack for our family room.
I came out with some really great finds, including a side table that is also a magazine rack for $20! Sweet, right? Here’s a wine rack I hope to makeover soon and look at my pretty ruffle milk glass plate. Plus we are big fans of Henckel brand kitchen knives and my husband found three nice big chef Henckel’s in perfect condition for $10..great steal 🙂
When I posted my thrift store find on my facebook fan page someone asked why I am painting this piece and I actually wanted to stain it, but we tried sanding it and that faux painted on wood grain wouldn’t come off. It looked like someone had also started to sand it and gave up. I’m not a furniture restoration expert so I decided painting would be safer. I started off by painted two coats of Annie Sloan Decorative Paint in Pure White. The drawer is painted in French Linen and I decided to paint on a vintage inspired grain sack stripe. It’s very easy to accomplish with painters tape! I distressed with both sandpaper and a wet rag and finished with the Clear Wax from Annie Sloan
I love the distressing on the stripe, do you?
The detail of the little vintage crown knob is my favorite part!
I found the knob at Cost Plus World Market! I love these.
I’m happy to have a little table beside the couch that has a little storage!
What do you think? Kind of a fun makeover, right? Thanks so much for stopping by and make sure to follow me on Instagram where I tend to post all my thrift store finds and things I love.
