Last weekend we filled all our patio pots and planted a few flowers and palm trees in our backyard. We moved in last summer and this is pretty much where we live for three months straight trying to keep cool in Phoenix during the summer. Our backyard is what sold the house for us. Remember- We bought our home sight unseen from California and this was the main reason! It really is a fun place to spend family time and entertain. 🙂
Now, I’m not saying I’m ready for our impending scorching hot summer to be here yet, but I’m excited to get the patio pool party ready.
We also did lots of general trimming and yard work. I cleaned and waxed our patio furniture and that was a whole project by itself.
You can read how to wax aluminum furniture with automobile wax in a post I did for Hip2Save here. It’s actually easy to do and works great, but requires some elbow grease. This set is nine years old and still going strong.
We also recently purchased two new wicker style lounge chairs from Costco and love them! They were pretty affordable, but still an investment, compared to most outdoor furniture options these days. 🙂
I usually have success with succulents in pots due to the fact they don’t need as much water!
I love filling my small tower of pots each year with either herbs or inexpensive annuals.
So I planted a dwarf Meier lemon tree in a large pot, pictured below, and am excited about it! I hope we get lots of lemons someday.
We decided to plant a couple Tropicana lilies and a small palm tree in a small grouping by the pool. Later in the week, they eventually both bloomed and are so pretty. We used to have these in Fresno, CA when we lived there and hoping they make it through the summer! 🙂
