Free Creative Classroom Printable Valentines I’ve Created

Eyeball Ring Valentine Fancy Frugal LIfe

With Valentine’s Day right around the corner, I’m sure many of you are working on the class cards with your little ones. We really have fun and enjoy doing these together, and it’s so cute to see the kids get so excited and come up with new concepts each year! Today I’m sharing our own easy ideas in case you need some last minute inspiration.

The first one I’d like to mention are these cute eyeball rings party favors from Target. They can be found in the birthday party isle and say the Sprintz brand on the packaging. My daughter picked these out herself and came up with the saying by herself too! She thinks it’s hilarious to do the two finger eye point hand motion.

Feel free to use my printable if you’d like to make these. All we did is punch a hole in the upper right corner and tie the rings with ribbon. She is so excited to give these out the her friends! 🙂

Fancy Frugal Girly Pink & Aqua Bedroom

Fancy Frugal Life Girl's Room

Hi there! It’s been awhile! Turns out it’s a little hard to work full time for another website and keep up my own. 🙂 If you’re curious what I’ve been up to, make sure to follow me over at I’ll be blogging and updating their recipes page–

Recipes at Hip2Saveas well as the crafts and DIY projects.– I’ve been doing some fun Valentine’s Day class printable ideas and lots of cooking!

Hip2Save Crafts and DIY

We’ve been in this house for a year in a half and I haven’t shown too much of my daughter’s space. It was in a room with beige walls a few years ago in a previous house. And if you remember, decorating her room is what originally sparked my interest in blogging a few years ago. I remember staying up late at night searching through beautiful home décor blogs and websites, before Pinterest, gathering inspiration on how to decorate frugally.

Her dressers and night stand are from Craigslist, and mini toile lounge chair a favorite 2nd hand find. Her beautiful ruffled bedding was just $30 from HomeGoods, along with the white furry rug she recently couldn’t live without the last time we were there. 🙂 The vintage mirror was a great flea market find, and I was able to reuse a lot of the details from her nursery as a baby on this gallery wall.

There’s so much of my daughter’s personality in here, which I LOVE.. She adores anything pink, a big fan of ruffles, also loves elephants, picture books, and is obsessed with dance. In fact this year she is on the competition team with her dance studio for the first time! I don’t think there’s anything cuter than little ones dancing 🙂

Ikea Photo Shelf

These walls were already this blue when we moved in and I think her things look really pretty in here! Today we put up this fun white shelf from Ikea, I think it’s meant to hold picture frames, but picture books look so cute on it! If she had more room I’d do a whole wall with these shelves! So cute with the books..
The photo below is her very first tutu from her one year old photo shoot on the left. I spray painted an old frame pink and hung the tutu inside, above her bed. I just couldn’t part with it and love this idea to incorporate it in her room!

So much thought and love was put into this tiny space and I’m glad to be able to share it with you and to document it for my sweet girl. Here she is below at her first dance recital this summer. Time is flying by and I am hanging on to these special memories 🙂

Modern Classic Furniture Reproductions

(The following is a sponsored message from Serenity Living Stores.)

Is modern classic furniture your home style? If so check out

Womb Style Sofa: Allows you to curl up and relax in comfort

They have a beautiful collection of modern classic sofas, chairs, tables, and lighting.

“At Serenity Living, we offer a wide selection of classics of modern furniture design — featuring authentic replicas of the most sought after designs of the mid century modern furniture era.

We believe that these iconic gems should be within reach of everyone who appreciates the originality of the modern furniture movement. Quality replicas of the world renowned designs, including the Eames Chair, Egg chairs and many more modern sofas, chairs and tables, can be purchased at affordable levels.”

You’ve already re-painted the walls and feng-shui’d the furniture. What else can you do to add a little excitement to your interior design? Here are 10 out-of-the-box ways to jazz up your home.

1: Houseplants

Forget the gardenias out of Better Homes and Gardens. Go for the fuzzy pink appendages of the acalypha or the crawling tendrils of the spider plant.

2: Egg Chairs

Already a staple of modern homes and hip offices, egg chairs are also great for snooty neighbors or in-laws who still don’t think your husband is good enough. Let them try to turn up their nose when they’re cradled in an egg!

3: Crazy Rugs

The best thing about a colorful or brightly-patterned rug is that it requires no commitment on your part. If it works out, great! If you decide you don’t like it after all, you won’t have to rip up the flooring to get rid of it.

4: Upside-Down Mirrors

Hang your mirrors from the ceiling for an off-beat look that’s still functional. It’s an easy way to add a little whimsy to your home without having resort to major renovations.

5: Chandeliers

Give your guests something to gawk at with the purchase of a grand chandelier for your den or living room. The odds are good that they’ll go right home and order their own, so you’ll start a neighborhood trend!

6: Furniture Reproductions

If you’d like a vintage look without the vintage stains, consider something like modern classic furniture reproductions, which will offer all the groovy style of yesteryear but with 21sty century utility and comfort.

7: Painted Interior Doors

Not only is it fun and quirky, but the next time someone asks for directions to the bathroom, you can just say, “The purple door down the hall.”

8: Upholstered Stairs

Give every step a unique design, like a different color, pattern or image. It can become a fun family project if everyone chips in with ideas or works on it together, like making new step for every birthday or milestone.

9: Storage

Who says organization can’t be interesting? Cut your shelves into the shape of dolphins or flowers. Install rails on your ceiling and keep all your plastic tubs hanging above your head.

10: Stenciled Floors

If you have wooden floors, it’s easy enough to grab some paint and a few stencils and make a one-of-a-kind design. Most people only do this to their walls, but you’re thinking out of the box, remember?

Do you have a modern pieces in your home? What’s your favorite piece?

Thrift store reindeer makeover & my Christmas dining room

made over thrift store decor

Check out this little reindeer basket I found at a thrift store for a couple dollars last month. He received a makeover with some white Chalk Paint and I used gold gilded wax on the antlers! This was my first time using gold wax and I love it!! I just did the front of the antlers and sanded around the edges. He also has a new red jingle bell nose 🙂

It was so fun in fact, I decided to paint the ends of a large pinecone I had. I also hot glued some faux berries to make it look like a Christmas tree. What a fun little craft!

He turned out so cute I made him the centerpiece of my dining room table!

Thrifty Christmas Decorating by Fancy Frugal Life

I wasn’t going to decorate my table this year, but our home is going to be photographed next week for next year’s December edition of Central Valley Magazine. (Yay I’m excited they will be taking photos of our decorations and my family!)

I will be writing an article about decorating for Christmas and featuring some DIY projects from my home. I’m thinking about including some tips for decorating a classy table on a budget.
Reindeer decorated tableThe other day I scored some very nice very real looking garland at Michael’s for 70% off. I twisted together a long piece of pine garland and gold leaf garland and used that as a base.

These cool flowers were just a couple dollars each at Michael’s and I added a bunch of gold dollar store decorations and pinecones.

DIY Christmas Flower Arrangement (Teacher’s Gift)

Tader Joe's Flower Arangement

Hi! I had to show someone the pretty flower arrangement I put together for my daughter’s teacher! I’m the home room parent so this is a gift from the classroom parents along with a larger Trader Joe’s gift card.

Today I was eying a pretty arrangement like this at another grocery store for over $40 so I went to Trader Joe’s, bought $14 worth of flowers and put together this! I tied together lace and ribbon (that I already had) to a simple vase to make it festive for Christmas. The fresh berries and branches I think are so cute.

Christmas Flowers under $15

I think it’s fun to buy the flowers separately and make your own arrangement, do you?

It looks so pretty on my dining room table I want to keep it! 🙂

The other thing I made from there was this pretty swag.

Well the fresh branches were already together and only $5.99 so I added my own ribbon and hung dollar store ornaments that went with my Christmas stuff.

My Christmas 2013 Home Tour

Christmas Home Tour 2013

Welcome to my home for Christmas! It took me so long to get everything out and up, and even longer to clean up! I can’t believe December is flying by so fast! I’m so excited to share my Christmas stuff with you guys. Our tree moved this year to behind the couch and I really love it.

I spent so much time taking and editing these photos I don’t have time to go in and explain each one so here are the highlights. You might have to look at the pictures and come back and read this part 🙂

Beside the tree on the left, hangs the new ornament wreath I made a few weeks ago! I love the colors and how it looks in this room. That is a fun satisfying project 🙂

See the fresh pine swag that I’ve hung on our curtain rod on the right of the tree? It’s from Trader Joe’s and I’ve added some cute ornaments and bow. I love how it smells!

The mantel has some new signs from Kirkland’s this year. This is what I spent my sponsored post money from them! Love it!  They have some great stuff this year, I wanted it all. Also note my fun dollar store stockings that I added ruffles to last year.

The stairs have garland and wreaths going up it again and another new “Santa Stops Here” sign from Kirkland’s. I made that pallet Christmas tree a couple years ago.

I wanted to point out my little tree especially for the kids’ handmade ornaments. I even made some popcorn garland!

Here’s how I’m displaying Christmas cards this year. I took apart an old flower arrangement I had and made a swag for above the canvas.

My parents just gave me this sweet white ceramic vintage tree with the peg lights. Don’t you love those? We always had one growing up. I’ve never seen a white one and love it!!

Last year I snagged some pretty cream and blue ornaments @ 75% off from Target after Christmas clearance  and added a few from my local dollar store 🙂

Fall Means Allergies for our Family

Kleenex for Fall Allergies“This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group® and Kleenex but all my opinions are my own. #KleenexAllergy #pmedia

Fall means pumpkins, chilly weather, hot apple cider, soccer, leaves changing, oh and allergies. Yuck! All of us are officially on prescription allergy nasal sprays since moving to central California, where we have some of the worst air for allergies and asthma in the country. My daughter has it the worst though. She wasn’t breathing through her nose at all and snoring up a storm at night, poor thing.

The only thing worse than having allergies is a kid who has bad seasonal allergies coupled with an odd aversion to blowing her noise! Yep. She just won’t do it. And if she does it’s so weak nothing comes out. Ahhh, Have you ever heard of such a thing?

Last month we were in a fancy restaurant with my dad trying to have a nice dinner and she sneezed and clearly needed a tissue. Instead this chica ran away from me whaling. “Don’t touch me!” as if I was really hurting her, with snot all over her face, and the whole place turned around watching… Fun times! lol

This is the face you get if you come near her with a tissue.

mean face

It’s pretty frustrating because not only is it a big crying tantrum when she clearly needs to blow, but if she doesn’t then it turns into a sinus infection. So mean mom has to use netty pots, saline spray, and even resorting to the aspirator at times! (Yes the blue baby booger sucker outer.) It’s an ongoing problem we struggle with, but using Kleenex, the softest tissue that doesn’t irritate sensitive skin, definitely helps.

I keep these handy Kleenex travel packs in my purse for when we are on the go,
