Thanksgiving Turkey Applique with Free Template

So sometimes it pays off to hoard random craft supplies. This foam turkey kit fell out of my son’s closet when I was trying to hurry and shove toys in it last minute, when we had company over the weekend.

The shapes inspired me to make a festive outfit for my little one for Thanksgiving…I know I’m obsessed with cute toddler holiday clothes…Especially fun applique stuff!

The other thing I’m obsessed with is dollar day Thursdays at Goodwill. It has turned into my weekly thing and I’ve scored some great stuff…like this cute brown polka dot dress..1$!! Yay!

I ironed on Wonder Under under my fabric pieces and then cut out my shapes. You remove the paper backing and iron them on how you want them on the shirt. Arrange them how you want first, then iron.

I embellished a little further with some button eyes and a pink bow.
Oh I also hand stitched around the edges…you more advanced sewers would probbaly prefer the machine 🙂

A turkey in fall colors would be super cute on a onesie or top for a boy.

Click here for the template of the shapes I used….my gift to you!

My sweet 3 year old told me “Oh mom I just looove turkeys! They are such a neat animal.” Didn’t have the heart to brake it to her we’ll be feasting on one soon! lol But so glad she likes her dress.

Make sure to come back and let me know if you end up making one for your little ones.

Happy Turkey day! Gobble! Gobble!

xoxo

  3. This is so cute. I know my girls would get a kick out of a turkey shirt – then I would be able to put away the jack-o-lantern one with a few less tears (maybe). Thanks for sharing on Monday Madness!

  4. We had that brown dot dress last summer! I like it so much better with your cute turkey you made and the fabrics you chose. This is adorable. I am so glad you shared with Monday Madness. hope to see you again tomorrow.
